You Have Legal Rights — and We Can Help at No Out of Pocket Cost to You.

Equifax reports credit information on hundreds of millions of Americans — and they get it wrong far more often than they admit. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), inaccurate Equifax entries are a federal violation. Our attorneys dispute the error, and if Equifax refuses to correct it, we take them to court.

  • We can assist with the dispute process involving inaccurate accounts, late payments, charge-offs, and collections on your Equifax report
  • If Equifax fails to properly investigate your dispute, we can file a federal lawsuit on your behalf
  • Our legal fees are paid by Equifax and the companies that furnish inaccurate information — not directly by you

    DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

Equifax Errors Are Common — and the Consequences Can Be Serious

Equifax collects data from thousands of lenders, banks, and collection agencies — and their processes are far from perfect. When Equifax reports inaccurate information, it can cost you a loan, a home, or years of financial opportunity. And their in-house dispute process is designed to close cases quickly, not to protect you.

    🏦

Denied for a mortgage, car loan, or personal loan because of an inaccurate Equifax entry

    🆔

Accounts, addresses, or negative items on your Equifax report that belong to someone else — or stem from identity theft

    💳

A charge-off or collection account showing unpaid on Equifax even though you settled or never owed it

    📉

Late payments dragging down your Equifax score that were never actually late

    🔁

You already disputed directly with Equifax — and the error came back "verified" without a real investigation

    📆

Old negative items — bankruptcies, collections, or derogatory marks — still appearing on Equifax past their legal removal date

If Equifax is reporting something inaccurate about you, federal law gives you the right to dispute it — and to sue if they don't fix it. Our attorneys can help at no out of pocket cost to you.
    The Process

Three Steps to Correcting Your Equifax Report

We handle everything. You focus on getting back to work.

    1

    We Review Your Equifax Report

Share your Equifax credit report with us (or we can walk you through getting it at no cost). Our team examines every entry for inaccurate late payments, accounts you don’t recognize, wrong balances, and any other potential FCRA violations.

    2

We Can Assist With a Formal Dispute

If your case calls for it, our attorneys can help prepare and submit a formal dispute to Equifax on your behalf. Under the FCRA, Equifax has 30 days to conduct a genuine investigation. We build a thorough, documented dispute — not a generic form letter — and preserve the full record in case further legal action becomes necessary.

    3

If the Errors Aren't Fixed, You May Be Owed Compensation

If Equifax fails to properly investigate or refuses to remove a legitimate error, you may have grounds for a federal lawsuit. We can pursue actual damages, statutory damages, and attorney’s fees — all paid by Equifax and the data furnishers, not by you.

    Know Your Rights

Equifax Is Not Above the Law — and Neither Are the Companies That Feed Them Data

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) is a federal consumer protection law that requires Equifax to maintain accurate information and conduct a proper investigation when you dispute an error. When Equifax violates the FCRA — whether by failing to investigate, reinstating removed items, or continuing to report information you’ve already disputed — they can be held legally liable.

That means you may be entitled to:

    • 💵
Actual DamagesMoney lost from denied credit, higher interest rates, or other financial harm
    • 📋
Statutory DamagesUp to $1,000 per violation — even without proving a specific financial loss
    • ⚖️
Punitive DamagesAdditional amounts a court may award if the violation was willful
    • 🏛️
Attorney’s FeesPaid by the credit bureaus and the companies that furnished the inaccurate information — not directly by you

"I went to Mr. Kim for help about two years ago and he immediately agreed to assist me with my credit report and creditors. He went to work and his legal assistant is amazing and very responsive. They showed that they cared, and in the end I was rewarded for all my issues — my credit score is now 741 thanks to Mr. Kim and his paralegal Anna. I will be forever grateful and will 100% recommend them to anyone with any credit or creditor problems."

"I was frustrated by the mistreatment of a creditor that damaged my credit. I filed a dispute with the credit agencies hoping it would resolve my issue — their process is a joke; it's as if they just work for the creditors. That's when I decided to hire The Kim Law Firm. Mr. Kim did an excellent job fighting for my rights, clearing up my credit, and getting compensation for my aggravation. If you need help, this is the firm you want representing you."

He was confident he could help me from the very beginning, and in the end he did just that and more. My experience could not have been better. I sincerely thank you all for advocating on my behalf and seeing me when other entities did not."

    Common Questions

    Frequently Asked Questions

You're entitled to a free copy of your Equifax credit report at AnnualCreditReport.com — the only federally authorized source for free reports from all three bureaus. You can also request your report directly through Equifax's website. Once you have it, contact us for a free review. Our attorneys will identify any FCRA violations at no out of pocket cost to you.
The 2017 Equifax breach exposed the personal information of approximately 147 million Americans, and it has contributed to a significant rise in mixed-file errors and fraudulent accounts appearing on credit reports. If your Equifax report contains accounts or information you don't recognize — and you suspect it may relate to identity theft or a breach — you may have a viable FCRA claim. We can review your report and advise you on your options.
Nothing out of pocket. Under the FCRA, when Equifax is found to have violated the law, they are required to pay your attorney's fees. That means our legal fees are paid by Equifax and the companies that provided them with inaccurate information — not by you. You never receive a bill from us.
A "verified" response does not necessarily mean Equifax conducted a proper investigation. Under the FCRA, Equifax is required to conduct a genuine reinvestigation — not simply confirm what the lender or creditor tells them. If the error persists after your dispute, that may itself be an FCRA violation, and you may have grounds for a federal lawsuit. This is exactly the type of situation we handle.
Under the FCRA, Equifax has 30 days to complete a reinvestigation after receiving your dispute (45 days in certain circumstances, such as when you submit additional information). If they fail to investigate within that timeframe, or if they conduct an inadequate investigation, they may be in violation of the law. An attorney can step in and pursue your legal remedies.
FCRA violations often appear across multiple bureaus when the same lender or collection agency is furnishing inaccurate data to all three. We can review all of your credit reports and pursue disputes against whichever bureaus are reporting incorrect information. Each violation is a separate claim — and each one is handled at no out of pocket cost to you.
