Creditors & Lenders
Creditors and lenders — the banks, credit-card issuers, auto-finance companies, and mortgage and personal-loan lenders you borrow from — are the original sources of most information on your credit report. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, a company that reports information about you (a “furnisher”) must investigate your disputes and correct anything it cannot verify. When a creditor reports a balance you already paid, an account discharged in bankruptcy, a charge-off with the wrong dates, or an account that is not even yours, you have the right to force a correction and to recover money for the harm it causes. Below are the creditors and lenders we help consumers with, organized by type. If yours is not listed, we can still help.
