Debt Collector, Creditor and Credit Reporting Company Phone Numbers and Addresses
This page collects the telephone numbers and mailing addresses that debt collectors, credit card issuers, the banks behind fintech brands, online lenders and background check companies publish for consumers. Every entry links down to a fuller page on that company. The list exists because the single hardest step in fixing a credit report or stopping an unlawful collection call is often just working out who you are dealing with and where to write.
Two things are worth saying before the list. First, a number appearing here means the company itself published it, or that it appears in a regulator record, a Better Business Bureau profile, a court filing or a bank regulator database. Second, a number being widely searched is not evidence that the number belongs to the company, and numbers in that category are not on this page. Both points are explained under how we decide what appears on this list, below.
Debt collection company phone numbers and return addresses
These are the companies that call and send letters about accounts they are collecting. A collection agency is the account you are most likely to be trying to identify, because the name on a caller ID or on a credit report line item is often nothing like the name of the original creditor.

Card issuers report to the credit bureaus every month, and they are the party that has to investigate when a bureau forwards a dispute about one of their accounts. Background check company phone numbers and addresses
Background screening companies are consumer reporting agencies under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and each of them runs a consumer relations line and a dispute address separate from the sales side of the business. If an employer took an adverse action against you, the notice you received is required to identify the screening company, and that notice is the authoritative answer to which company reported on you.

How we decide what appears on this list
We sort every identifier into one of three groups, and only the first two appear on this page.
- Published by the company: the number or address appears on the company’s own website, in its privacy notice, in a cardholder agreement, on its payment portal or on its consumer correspondence. This is the strongest category and it is where most of the entries above come from.
- Published in a public record: the number or address appears in a Better Business Bureau profile, an FDIC institution record, a state licensing record, testimony to a committee of Congress or a filing in a court case. Where an entry comes from one of these, the source is named beside it.
- Reported by consumers only: people receive calls from a number and post about it, but the company has never published it. These numbers are not on this page. Where one is heavily searched, it appears on the individual company page instead, labelled clearly as unconfirmed.
The reason for the third rule is simple. Search volume on a telephone number is evidence that people are receiving calls from it. It is not evidence that the number belongs to the company they think it belongs to. Spoofed caller ID, collection vendors working several clients at once and outright impersonation all produce heavy search volume around numbers that a company does not own. Listing one of those as though it were the company’s own number would be stating something we cannot verify.
Numbers and addresses that are not on this list
If the number calling you is not on this page, that by itself tells you something. It may mean the caller is a vendor working on the company’s behalf, a different company that bought the account, or someone impersonating a collector. It does not mean you have to guess.
- Ask for validation in writing. A debt collector must, on request, send you written verification of the debt and the name of the current creditor. That letter carries a return address you can check against this page.
- Read the credit report entry, not the caller ID. The furnisher name and the address the bureau holds for it are on your report, and the bureau has to give you the source of the information.
- Read the adverse action notice. If a job, an apartment or a credit application went against you, the notice you received is required to identify the consumer reporting agency that supplied the report, with its address and toll-free number.
- Do not send money or account numbers to a number you cannot place. Impersonation of collection agencies is common enough that several of the companies above publish a dedicated line for reporting it.
Common questions about collector and creditor phone numbers
How do I find out which company is calling me about a debt?
Ask the caller for the name of the company and the name of the current creditor, then request written validation of the debt. A collector has to send that verification on request, and the letter will carry a return address. Check that address and the telephone number against the company entries above. If the caller refuses to identify the company, that refusal is itself a problem under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
Why does the same company have more than one phone number?
Larger collectors and card issuers run separate lines for separate purposes: medical accounts, state tax accounts, lost or stolen cards, fraud reporting, privacy requests and language access all commonly get their own number. Several companies also have one number on their own website and a different one on their Better Business Bureau profile. All of the ones we could confirm are listed above, so a number that is not on the list is worth treating with caution.
Why is the address on my collection letter different from the company address?
Most collectors use a lockbox for payments and a separate box for correspondence and disputes, and many use a third address for their actual offices. Some also keep an older address in circulation for years after moving. Where a company publishes several, all of them are above, labelled by what each one is for. Sending a dispute to a payment lockbox is one of the most common reasons a dispute never gets handled.
Which address do I use to dispute something on my credit report?
For credit report accuracy, the strongest route is to dispute through the credit bureau that is reporting the account. A furnisher’s duty to investigate under the Fair Credit Reporting Act is triggered when the dispute reaches it from a credit bureau, not when you mail it to the company directly. Writing to the company as well is worthwhile and creates a useful record, and several of the companies above publish a dedicated credit reporting dispute address for exactly that purpose.
Does calling the company count as a dispute?
A telephone call creates no paper trail and does not reliably trigger the investigation duties that the Fair Credit Reporting Act places on a furnisher or a credit bureau. Calling is fine for finding out who you are dealing with. For anything you may need to prove later, put it in writing and keep a copy.
A number is all over the internet but is not on your list. Why not?
Because the company has not published it. We list numbers a company publishes itself and numbers that appear in a regulator record, a Better Business Bureau profile or a court filing. A number that only appears in consumer complaint posts may well be a real collection number, but it may equally be a spoofed number, a vendor, or an impersonator. On a law firm site we are not willing to present something as a company’s number when we cannot confirm it.
If a company on this list has reported something inaccurate about you
Finding the right number and the right address is the first step. What comes next depends on what went wrong. If an account on your credit report is not yours, or is reported as unpaid when it was settled or discharged, or belongs to someone with a similar name, the Fair Credit Reporting Act gives you the right to dispute it and requires both the credit bureau and the company that furnished the information to conduct a reasonable investigation. If a hard inquiry appears that you never authorised, that is also an FCRA problem, and an inquiry generally stays on the report for two years. If a collector is calling repeatedly, calling at prohibited hours, contacting you after you asked in writing that they stop, or telling third parties about the debt, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act applies.
