World Omni Financial Corp and Your Credit Report

“World Omni Financial Corp” on a credit report puzzles people who know exactly what car they financed — a Toyota — but have never heard of the company reporting it. World Omni is the company behind Southeast Toyota Finance: if you financed or leased a Toyota through a dealer in the Southeast, your loan can report under the World Omni name rather than the Toyota brand you signed with.

What World Omni Financial is

World Omni Financial Corp describes itself as a diversified financial company serving automotive dealers, consumers, and lenders, headquartered in Deerfield Beach, Florida, and established in 1981 as the first captive finance company for an import automotive brand in the United States, according to its parent company JM Family Enterprises. Southeast Toyota Finance — its consumer-facing brand — finances and leases Toyotas through dealers in the Southeast, with customer service centers in Mobile, Alabama and St. Louis, Missouri. The name on your contract and the name on your report simply differ — which is normal. What must be accurate is everything else.

The errors to look for

Auto loans and leases produce their own reporting failures. Look for: a loan you paid off still showing a balance — our paid off but still reporting page covers that exact problem; late payments you did not make, or lates that continued after a payoff or trade-in; a lease reported as if money is still owed after the vehicle went back; a balance that ignores your trade-in or settlement; an account that is not yours at all; and the same loan reported twice. If the account is one you never had, start with our account that is not yours page.

How to dispute a World Omni entry

With the credit bureaus. Dispute in writing with each bureau showing the entry, and enclose your proof — the payoff letter, the trade-in paperwork, the lease return record. The bureau generally has thirty days to investigate, and the company that reported the loan must investigate what is forwarded to it. Keep copies and proof of mailing.

With the company. Southeast Toyota Finance maintains customer service channels for account questions; use the contact information on your statement or the entry itself. You can also demand validation if a collector has become involved; our free debt verification letter template covers how.

When the dispute fails

If the entry comes back “verified” and it is still wrong — paid, not yours, the wrong history — the Fair Credit Reporting Act gives you a claim against the furnisher, the bureaus, or both. Damages can include your concrete losses, the harm to your credit, and statutory and punitive damages for willful violations. The fee provision is written into the Act: in a successful action the costs and reasonable attorney’s fees are recoverable from the defendant, as determined by the court. That is why this work is handled on a contingency basis rather than billed by the hour.

You pay nothing unless we win.

Where your situation fits

Our directory of furnishers and debt collectors lists the companies that report and the names they report under, and if a dispute has already failed, our FCRA lawsuit page sets out what comes next.

This page is about credit reporting accuracy. The Kim Law Firm is not affiliated with World Omni Financial Corp, Southeast Toyota Finance, JM Family Enterprises, or Toyota, and this page is not a complaint about those companies. It describes how account entries can appear on credit reports and the rights consumers have when an entry is wrong.
